Stamped Mugs: From Idea to Reality!
Have you noticed that creative spurts just seem to hit sometimes? Here at the studio, we've been going through a huge season of R&D, new ideas, and LOTS of new designs! It's been fun and refreshing to experiment with different techniques, and one of the products we've focused on the most is our line of stamped mugs.
How Do We Make Stamped Mugs
First of all, let's dive into how we create our stamped mugs. We first come up with a design that we want to see on a mug or other piece of pottery. We then transfer this design into the computer and send it over to our laser (kudos to you if you read that in a Dr. Evil voice in your head), which cuts it into a wooden stamp. We then use that wooden stamp to create a clay stamp to add to the wheel-thrown mug. So, what designs have we been working on?
Mr and Mrs Mug Sets (And Coasters!)
We knew we wanted to make a Mr. and Mrs. mug set, because, well, we would love to have a pair of these ourselves! We think they will make fantastic wedding and anniversary presents, and after looking at them, we're planning to test out some coasters with this design as well.
Ladybugs and Butterflies: Amazing Insects
Maybe because its springtime, we've been inspired to make some ladybug and butterfly stamped mugs. These are some of the more intricate stamp designs we've made - the ladybug being the most intricate - and we're super excited to see how they turn out!
I'm Finer Than Frog Hair!
As funny as it is, this stamp really holds a lot of meaning for us! Usually, when you ask Chad's grandfather how he's doing, he often replies, "I'm finer than frog hair!" We just love this saying, and we hope it brings a smile to others like it does to us!
State Love!
We've been meaning to make more state stamps for years, and we're finally getting around to it, with this new Texas stamp! We've also designed a "Just Peachy' stamp, which give a nod to the state of Georgia!
Whew! So there you have it! Several new stamps for spring! We can't wait to see how they all turn out!
